Yama Dance Company

Yama Dance Company

Yama Dance Company is open to anyone aged 60 and over, and meets every Thursday morning in term time.

Yama creates and performs regularly, in Bath, Bristol and further afield.
Alongside Artistic Director Eleanor Duval, the company works with Eleanor and other guest artists to create live and filmed works. Yama have worked with artists and companies such as Theo Clinkard, Richard Chappell, Roseanna Anderson (Impermanence) and Xavier de Santos (AllouAqui Dance Theatre).
Take a look at our past and current performances and projects.

What’s it like to be in Yama?
Yama has a busy schedule of rehearsals and performances throughout term time. It’s a member led group, so dancers play a key role in the success and smooth running of the group. While being part of Yama is no small commitment, it can be a very rewarding experience:

Yama has brought me into a new social circle and allowed me to express myself both as an individual and in collaboration with others

Through devising performances, I have had to reach deep into personal experience and memory, which has been richly rewarding
